Community Outreach and Events
If you enjoy working with and coaching others, developing and planning fundraising events, and having a variety of day-to-day activities and responsibilities, the American Cancer Society can use your skills to promote our lifesaving work.
Our community outreach and events staff is responsible for the execution and delivery of the Society’s enterprise-wide vision, direction, and strategy for community events and programs. This could include planning a Relay For Life® event in your community, working with a committee of volunteers, survivors, caregivers, and community leaders to set and execute event goals and objectives. Or you may work with volunteers to plan a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® walk, guiding them as they organize the event, secure sponsors, and raise funds to benefit the Society’s mission of eliminating cancer.
Team members in this area usually have donation and sponsorship goals for a portfolio of events, and work with both American Cancer Society staff and volunteers in their community to achieve these goals. They touch nearly every part of our mission and serve as the face of the Society in their community.
Our most successful community engagement professionals are usually organized, outgoing, and positive, and they possess the ability to coach and motivate others.

If you are a recent college graduate, degrees that may align with our community outreach and events group include business, hospitality, communication, and health sciences, among others.
